Microsoft will be ending support for Windows 10 Pro on October 14, 2025.

This support advisory is not applicable to customers using Posiflex terminals, which include extended support lifecycles.

Free Windows 11 Upgrade Available

All Dell computers purchased from SpeedLine in 2020 or later, should be eligible for the free Windows 11 upgrade from Microsoft. Self-supplied computers will be dependent on the manufacturers hardware. Note: Self-supplied computers may also be running Windows 10 Enterprise which is also end of life.

After October 14, computers running Windows 10 Pro will still work, and the SpeedLine software will still function. However, to continue receiving security updates from Microsoft, upgrading to Windows 11 is required. Microsoft will no longer be providing security updates for Windows 10 Pro. Also, any networks that include computers running Windows 10 Pro may fail PCI vulnerability scans.

How to Check which Operating System your Computers are Running 

To find out which operating system your stations are running:

1. Click the Start button
2. Click Settings
3. Click System
4. Click About

Alternatively, send SpeedLine Support an email and arrange for a technician to connect remotely to verify which operating system is running on each of your stations and if they are eligible for a Windows 11 upgrade.

What You Need to Know Before You Upgrade

This upgrade should have no impact on your existing SpeedLine installation. We recommend planning a couple of hours for this task, especially if you have several stations that need to be upgraded.

We highly recommend upgrading all stations after-hours as they will not be available for use during the upgrade process.

Completing the Upgrade

If the computer is eligible for upgrading, browse to the Microsoft Windows 11 Download Page and follow the steps listed there.

After you upgrade or purchase new hardware with Windows 11, keep Windows Updates turned on to stay up to date with security fixes, and keep your operating system PCI compliant.
