SpeedWeb Users - Read Before You Upgrade to 7.2 R800+

Posted by SpeedLine Support on Feb 23, 2018 2:41:06 PM

In SpeedLine 7.2 R800, released earlier this month, SpeedWeb is hosted by Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) instead of Apache.

This new version of SpeedWeb has some important differences that SpeedWeb users should be aware of before upgrading to SpeedLine 7.2 R800 or later:

  • Fewer Security Updates: Because IIS updates automatically through Windows Update, after installing this version, you will see a substantial reduction in the frequency of PCI-required SpeedLine security upgrades.
  • Change to Supported Operating Systems: SpeedWeb now requires a recent Windows Professional, Embedded Industry Pro, Enterprise, Ultimate, or Server edition operating system.

Windows Embedded POSReady 7, Embedded Standard 7, Windows 8.1 Core, Windows XP, Windows XP Pro, and Windows POSReady 2009 do not meet requirements, and SpeedWeb will not work with these operating systems.

  • CSK Conflict: This version of SpeedWeb cannot be installed on the same station as ConnectSmart Kitchen (CSK) kitchen display software version 6.3.103 or earlier. If this conflict is detected during upgrade, SpeedWeb will be uninstalled to ensure your kitchen monitors continue to work. Contact Support for assistance moving SpeedWeb to a different station.
  • Windows Login: After installing this version, the login information for SpeedWeb will change. SpeedWeb user names and passwords will now match the computer's Windows account logins.
