Pizza Expo 2023 was the perfect opportunity for stakeholders across the pizza industry to come together and showcase the latest restaurant technology trends. As an exhibitor, we were thrilled to see such an interest in SpeedLine and its suite of systems while reconnecting with many of our customers face-to-face. While attending, a few key themes began to emerge. Here are our top four takeaways from Pizza Expo 2023:

1. Multi-Platform POS Systems

One of the most significant trends was the need for POS systems that allowed information to be accessible from mobile devices, in addition to being compatible with tablets for table service. These systems allow servers to take orders and payments tableside, providing a more seamless and efficient dining experience for customers. Additionally, they are cost-effective and easy to use, making them an attractive option for smaller pizza restaurants with limited budgets and resources.

2. Full-Service POS

An increasing number of restaurant owners expect their POS software to offer a suite of features and functionalities to support them at every step of their restaurant workflows, from order taking, inventory, and menu designing, to online ordering and reporting. Many of our booth visitors appreciated SpeedLine's full-service POS capabilities with programs like Cloud Reporting & Analytics; designed to provide valuable insights to make informed decisions about inventory, staffing, and other key business metrics.

3. Contactless Payment Options

The pandemic accelerated the adoption of contactless payment options, and we saw this trend continue at Pizza Expo 2023. Many pizza restaurants are now offering contactless payment options, such as mobile wallets and NFC-enabled credit cards, to provide a safer and more convenient payment experience for customers. Additionally, these payment options are often faster and more efficient, reducing wait times and improving overall customer satisfaction. The increasing demand validated the importance of your POS supporting contactless payment methods, which SpeedLine can seamlessly do.

4. Loyalty Programs

Pizza restaurants recognize the value of building long-term relationships with customers and are using loyalty and rewards programs to incentivize repeat business. These programs can take many forms, from points-based systems to free menu items and discounts, and can be an effective way to drive customer loyalty and increase revenue. Having a POS system with loyalty program options saves you time and removes the guesswork.
