A quick Google search will tell you that you need to visit Patronie’s Pizza in Supply, NC. You would be hard pressed to find any negative comments, and that’s something the Patrone family is proud of.
Their story is a unique one: A journey that began in 1993 as the Sugar Shack in Breezy Point, New York, brought them to baking pies by candlelight in 1996 during one of the worst winters Apex, North Carolina has ever seen. Then, in 2007, wanting to return to the coast, the Patrones sold their pizzeria and moved to Holden Beach.
“We weren’t born in the South, but we got here as quick as we could,” John Patrone, Jr., quips.
The Patrone family found a home for their new venture in a 130-year-old building. From December of 2008 to August 2009, the Patrones worked morning, noon, and night to expand the building and bring it up to code.
In 2009, John Jr. and his family opened their doors, and a new era of Patronie’s began.
Patronie’s is a laid back, family-style pizzeria where everyone knows someone.
As business continued to grow, the Patrones realized that they needed a point of sale system to keep up with demand. They did their homework, and based on recommendations online and in Pizza Today magazine, chose SpeedLine in early 2012.
John noticed the difference right away. “We wanted a POS system to track our employees, our items being sold, and being able to increase our menu size,” John says. “We also wanted to speed up checkout transactions. We have accomplished all of those things with the help of SpeedLine.”
Another thing John finds invaluable: Being able to charge for things they weren’t in the past.
“Even something as small as extra dipping sauces, though only a few cents, add up to a few hundred dollars at the end of the year.”
Although it’s only been a few months since they installed the new SpeedLine system, the Patrones have already ordered an additional terminal to keep up with their continued growth.
SpeedLine has made things easier for the Patrones, and for this hard-working family, easy is worth a lot.
