This issue, we’ll be setting up Scheduling. The SpeedLine Scheduling tool is designed to simplify scheduling employee shifts, but as you’ll see, it does more than that. It can also help you schedule more efficiently by identifying staffing requirements and giving you a clear view of labor targets and costs as you work.
If you haven’t completed the previous tutorial on Sales Forecasting, do that first. The SpeedLine Scheduling tool uses your sales forecast and targets to recommend staffing levels for upcoming weeks. |

| Technical Update: Running multiple SpeedLine menus? |
Most SpeedLine users run a single menu. But a small percentage of you are simultaneously running multiple menus in your restaurants. If you are, please take note that every menu item and coupon in your menus must be assigned a unique PLU or coupon ID. This is important to avoid conflicts and inaccurate reporting of inventory and coupon usage.
Although we have always advised unique PLUs and coupon IDs as best practice, SpeedLine has never required it. In the next release of SpeedLine (v5.9), we will be moving towards making unique PLUs and coupon IDs mandatory. If you have conflicting PLUs or IDs in your menus, SpeedLine 5.9 will inform you through pop-up messages.
If you are running multiple menus, we encourage you to take the time to eliminate any PLU or coupon ID conflicts.
