Interpret the Sales Forecast

The Day Totals tab of the Sales Forecast window displays historical and predicted sales. The historical data (the Last Year and This Year sections) are actual total sales. The Other Projections and Store Projection rows are forecasted sales.

The System projections are predictions, based on your restaurant's sales history

The illustration below explains each section of the Sales Forecast:

The last row in the Sales Forecast table, the Store Projection, is open for you to edit. SpeedLine can make predictions based on sales history, but it can't predict a big school order, a nasty storm, or a tour bus in your parking lot. Use the Store Projection field for each day to enter your own sales projections. This is the number that will feed into your labor and prep plans.

So you've set up and viewed your sales figures. It's useful information on its own, but the real value of your forecast is in helping you plan your schedule and prep efficiently.

Next issue, we'll look at how you can use your sales forecast to reduce labor costs.
